News and Announcements
What do you get when you put BC Baseball programming along with two MLB players like Outfielder/1B Ernie Young and Pitcher Aaron Myette together on a wet Friday night in Aldergrove?
You get 30 16U Grade 10 baseball players keyed up and completely unfazed by the weather. Underway by 4:00 PM tonight the players put in a solid four hours dedicating themselves to working their defensive fielding skills as well as balancing it out with offensive hitting training.
The players were able to take advantage of a full instructor line up beyond Ernie and Aaron including Dave Diachuk, Al Forman, JJ Hyde, Grant Rimer, Alan Rimer and Michael Dagg. There is no shortage of game knowledge on the ball field this weekend and the crew delivers, rain or shine!
This is just the first chapter of the three day Showcase weekend that draws the attention of scouts, post secondary recruiters, high performance coaches and the baseball community. Tomorrow sees the the players back on the field to go back at it!

World Series Champion, Gold Glove, and 7x All Star Reggie Smith was on hand this weekend working with the players of BC Baseball’s 15U High Performance Development Program. You could clearly see the impact of having such a legendary icon and master of the hitting game (Lifetime average of .287, with 314 HR and 1092 hits). The man knows how to get it done! The 46 players invited to the three day camp worked long hours enthusiastically absorbing everything the instructors delivered.
This group of future stars from all corners of the province were on point, fired up, and applying the skills and abilities passed on to them by the instructors. It was a strong statement about the future of Baseball in BC and in Canada! These kids are going to represent BC Baseball in Chicago, IL this summer.
(In no particular order)
All those who attended should feel proud and hold their head high. You are a shining example of what happens when hard work and dedication meet on the diamond.
A special thank you from all of us at BC Baseball goes out to John Braaten and the volunteers at Richmond City Baseball for their hard work and dedicated support of the development camp. The venue facilities and expert care provided to our athletes, coaches, and parents was simply outstanding! Without your efforts, we could not have provided such an amazing experience for our young athletes! Our success is built on the backs of the 50+ associations who work day in and day out for the youth in their communities.

BC Baseball’s 2018 John Main 13U AA tournament wrapped up today with a stellar final game. Squaring off were North Shore and Abbotsford to determine the overall kings of the hill!
It was a tight battle between the two squads who had gone undefeated up until this point. Rolling into the sixth with a one run margin the crew from Abbotsford were able to put up three runs and lock down the sticks from North Shore going on to win the 2018 John Main crown!
Congratulations to Cardel Dick for immortalizing his role on the MVP trophy and to the coaching trio of Colin Sexton, Scott Alexander and Steve Coleman for top coach honours. What a treat to watch these kids work!
Colin was humble in his acceptance stating “It was a great team effort. We had a roster of 14 players through the tournament and they all made contributions to the win. A fun weekend with a great group of kids. And thanks again to all the volunteers who made the tournament happen.”
Thanks again to the volunteers of the host association, Richmond City Baseball, for providing the amazing weather, great venue and foundation for friendships on both sides of the field. Coaches, players and fans all look forward to next year’s event!
The 2018 BC Baseball John Main 13U AA tournament is well underway in day three of competition. 16 Teams line up in four pools to fight for the annual honour of the John Main championship crown!
By far the most popular 13U AA tournament in BC, this event promises to showcase some of the best talent BC Baseball has to offer at the 13U level. Host Richmond City Baseball is working double time to provide a first rate experience for Players, coaches, parents and all involved from beginning to end. They do not disappoint. A big shout out to President John Braaten and his team of dedicated volunteers for their support!
