The Abbotsford Angels 15U (Bantam) AAA team, Team BC, is off to a hot start at the Game Day USA 15U National Championship Tournament, July 16-19, in Milwaukee, Wisconson. The team had a good practice at The Rock athletic complex on Wednesday in preparation for their first two pool play games Thursday morning. The team was impressed with the four field, artificial turf complex which is hosting nineteen teams from 6 states and Canada in the 15U portion of the tournament, and 40 teams overall.

On Thursday Team BC shook off the jitters and started the tournament in dramatic fashion with 4-3 come from behind, walk off win in 8 innings versus Bigler Big Time 15U. They then followed that up with a 10-3 victory over Slammers Baseball 15U to finish the first day of pool play at 2-0.

This morning, Friday, Team BC defeated the Illinois Indians 9-1, and are now sitting at 3-0. After their final pool play game tomorrow morning the single elimination portion of the tournament will begin, and Team BC is well situated to take a run at the championship. Overall, good pitching and solid, routine defence, with minimal walks allowed has kept Team BC in every game. Timely hitting throughout the lineup and smart baserunning has consistently allowed Team BC to capitalize on their opportunites offensively.

The overall athleticism of Team BC has been on display as they have had no trouble adjusting to the full size 60/90 diamond, and their consistent hustle and aggressive approach have helped to keep them rolling. Tonight the team will be attending a Milwaukee Brewers MLB game at Miller Park where they will have the opportunity to parade on the field and be introduced prior to the start of the game versus the Pittsburgh Pirates. Overall, the experience of a lifetime.

Go Team BC!
