Chemainus to host Cuban Baseball Team
In 2016, young athletes from the Chemainus and District Baseball Association travelled to Cuba to play baseball with the team in the city of Mazantas, Cuba. The life lessons gained by the players, coaches and chaperones far surpassed just playing the game of baseball and has led to a once in a life-time opportunity for the young athletes from Mazantas to visit Canada!
The government of Cuba has granted these players permission to come to Vancouver Island to play baseball from July 14 through July 21 2017. A total of 25 players, coaches and organizers will stay in selected billeted homes in the Chemainus area and will have a very busy itinerary of baseball games along with some uniquely Vancouver Island cultural experiences.
