The second stop on the Interior leg of the Coaches Caravan saw the ripple effect of a story book 2017 summer season where the Salmon Arm U11 team took Provincial gold! Salmon Arm Minor Baseball Association has seen explosive growth in their player base again this year.

That growth was clearly evident in the 260 players and parents attending the 2018 BC Baseball Coaches Caravan on Tuesday night. Even more impressive was the number of parents eager to pair off and work with the players. Having top level coaches like those who travel with the Caravan go through fundamental drills and mechanics with parents provides immeasurable value to young athletes. The drills provided by the Coaches Caravan offer the tools for players and parents to work at home and on the field. The most important work an athlete can do to improve their game is done outside of practices and games!

To further that, the Caravan Crew spends a lot of time educating parents and coaches on the importance of keeping fun in the game, supporting their players, and discuss the real numbers on why players play, more importantly, why players quit. Often, an element that isn’t discussed enough in youth sports. It can be a tough subject to address but the Caravan Crew are pros, and they have a connection with the players and parents that can deliver those messages in a way that changes the way parents and coaches see the importance of their role in the lives of young ball players.

Next stop for the Caravan, Revelstoke!
