After the Quarterfinal game and rematch vs #3 Seed Kennewick Warriors Saturday evening where Team BC bats came alive with a convincing 15-7 win, they moved on to the semi-final game Sunday morning. Team BC arrived at Southridge Sports complex at 7:00 am for the 8:00 am semi-final game vs. #2 Seed Coeur d Alene Lumbermen (Idaho).
Team BC started the game staying close to Coeur d Alene after three innings trailing 2-1. The solid starting pitching from the Lumbermen kept Team BC’s bats in check all day. Coeur D Alene bats awoke and found the gaps and put together consecutive innings of scoring multiple runs. In the end Team BC lost 10-2 as they could not mount any type of rally. From there Team BC moved onto the 3rd place game vs the #4 Seed BBB Kings (which Team BC played in its first game of the tournament).
With a 12:45 pm start in 38-degree heat Team BC led off the game and put up seven runs in the top of the first inning. BBB Kings answered back with two runs, and it was “game on.” Pitching then settled down for both teams and bats were held in check for the most part for the rest of the game. Going into the last couple of innings Team BC held onto to their lead for the rest of the game and ended up winning 8-5 for 3rd place in the TCS Father’s Day Slugfest. An excellent showing for the team playing on a larger field vs competition that had already played 30-40+ games each already this year.
The team received many compliments throughout the tournament for the play on the field and how they carried themselves off as well. It was a long two days and a mental grind, but in the end, this talented bunch of fourteen players showed a lot of grit and played hard.
BC Minor Baseball is incredibly proud to have had the team of Riley Ashley, Carson Burnett, Reid Clague, David Dorland, Lucas Epp, Owen Fernandes, David Krahn, Keanan Leclerc, Jack McLeod, Max Martinez, Ben McKinnon, Vasya Seymour, Stefano Siniscalchi & Ethan Woodbeck, along with coaches: John Braaten, Rob Burnett & Randy McKinnon.
