Shawn has played for Ridge Meadows as a 13U and 15U player. He went to 13U Nationals with Ridge Meadows, 15U Nationals with Victoria.

After, moving on to play with the Coquitlam Reds of the PBL for 3 years(2002-2004), Canada Cup pitcher (2002, 2003), Canada Summer Games pitcher (2005) and played collegiately at Midland College (TX), UBC, and Cumberland University. He was a 2nd team All American at UBC. Also finished tied for 3rd at the World Series (2006), 1st team All American at Cumberland (2010) and won the National Championship.

He adds to his player resume with a strong coaching background at Douglas College (2011-2015), Canada Cup (2019, 2016, 2014), Western Canada Games (2015). He also won the Baseball Canada Lionel Ruhr Coach of the Year (2014). He is NCCP Comp-Dev Trained. Currently, he is the Baseball BC Grassroots Coordinator and High-Performance Staff Lead and an NCCP Facilitator.
