If you’re involved in baseball in British Columbia you’ve undoubtedly run into Grant “The Program” Rimer. For 25 years Rimer has been a leader in Player Development throughout the province. His resume looks like the itinerary for a rock band playing concerts in just about every city and town and village from Vancouver to Kelowna, from Campbell River to Fort St. John. It would take about 200 pages to cover the ground.

But here are just a few of the highlights of his illustrious career. He’s a creator and lead instructor for the B.C. Minor Baseball Coaches Caravan. He created College Prep, the league that gives high school prospects a chance to strut their stuff in front of college recruiters and pro scouts. Grant has organized, coaches and holds together the annual 16U development camp featuring prestigious former MLB stars like Reggie Smith, Ernie Young, and Jim Lefebvre. Grant has coached at just about every level from Mosquito to Peewee to Bantam. And always with a strong sense of caring for every boy or girl he’s developed. He spent three seasons with the Vancouver Cannons, a team that became a powerhouse in the Premier League. The Cannons sent three players into pro baseball, including Rowan Wick, who was rookie of the year in 2019 with the Chicago Cubs. But, most of all, Grant Rimer has always stressed coaching the game the right way. Of course, he likes to win. But his mission is to teach, using baseball science and his vast experience to develop players to be the Best They Can Be.
