GREAT OPENING FOR BC BASEBALL TEAM BC 16U SELECTS

Team BC is off to a good start with 2 pool wins yesterday which placed them in top spot in Pool A, and a semi final game today at 10:15.

Amongst the hills of Enumclaw, Washington with Mt. Rainier in the background, Team BC beat “The Game” 2-0 behind a complete game 8 strike out performance from Tricity’s Ethan Powell. Richmond Chuckers’ Nathan Hikida tied the game with a clutch double in the 5th and Ridge Meadow’s Owen McCuaig scored the winning run by leading off 6th with a double.

Game two was a different story, but with the same result: Team BC beat the Avengers 7-3 to take too spot in their pool. Victoria’s Ben Havelock struggled early, giving up 3 runs but only the first was earned. Jake Finkelstein, from Richmond came in to throw 4 plus innings of shut out relief. He racked up 11 strike outs and even got a personal shout-out by the Avengers coaching staff after the game. Offensively, Team BC broke out for 7 runs on 6 hits. Cloverdale’s Lucas Longoria paced the Canadians with 2 hits.

Coached Hyde is pleased, “The boys are coming together as a group. Two strong pitching performances from Justin’s (pitching coach) staff was huge. We are on a roll and need to keep it going”. He loves the strong contingent of Parents that have joined the team down south. Saturday, it was evident… Team BC 16U Selects is here to REPRESENT!
